The name "Michiana," a compound of "Michigan" and "Indiana," represents southwestern Michigan and northwestern Indiana. This region is becoming increasingly vegan-friendly, with supportive restaurants and businesses in South Bend, Mishawaka, Granger, Elkhart, Goshen, Michigan City, Fort Wayne, Niles, Berrien Springs, Three Oaks, Stevensville, Benton Harbor, St. Joseph, and Kalamazoo, to name only a few!

Michiana enjoys two active Meetup groups, VegMichiana Meetup in the South Bend area (323 members) and Kalamazoo Meetup (1101 members); two thriving Facebook groups, VegMichiana (654 members) and Vegans of Michiana (343 members). Both VegMichiana Meetup and VegMichiana Facebook groups compose one PlantPure pod, benefiting from the invaluable support of PlantPure Communities.

Michiana veg groups organize many events:

  • plant-based potluck gatherings where vegans, vegetarians and those curious about the plant-based lifestyle can meet, eat and share recipes and information
  • outings to restaurants
  • cooking demonstrations
  • film evenings at a local home with free vegan snacks

Michiana offers great resources for vegans, vegetarians and those curious about making the transition as well as an active, vibrant and supportive plant-based community.
